Why I slept With 12-Year-Old Girl – Man Confesses
A 25-year-old bus driver. Idawor Bright was caught pants down with a 12-year-old girl by his wife in their apartment.
Speaking at an Abuja area court sitting in Jiwa, Bright said that
he mistook the girl’s rapid growth for maturity and that’s why he had
s*xual intercourse with her, adding that he was not aware of her age.
He said on that fateful day, he had asked the girl to leave the
house as his wife was around but unfortunately, they were caught by the
wife who then reported the case to the girl’s parents.
He admitted to the crime but said the girl was his girlfriend and they had been having s*x since last year.
He added that his wife has since left him because of the incident and begged the court to have mercy on him.
Presiding over the case, Judge Muhammad Lawal Munnir who was
informed that the girl was not attending school, frowned at the action
of her parents, in not seeing to her being educated.
The accused was however sentenced to 10-months imprisonment with an option of fine in the sum of N10,000.
