Man Arrested After Biting Off His Infant Son’s Nose Because He Wouldn’t Stop Crying,

A man has been taken into custody by the Fairfield Police today after allegedly biting off his infant son’s nose due to the child crying.

18-year-old Fairfield resident, Joseph Cooper, has been accused of both child cruelty and aggravated mayhem,  Upon arriving at a home located on Alaska Avenue, officers discovered the 1-month-old infant bleeding from his face.

The infant was immediately taken to Children’s Hospital in Oakland for treatment. In addition to one-third of the infant’s nose having been ruptured, he also suffered a brain hemorrhage and a fractured skull. Investigators were told Cooper assaulted his son because he was crying.

The baby is presently in stable condition.
