INEC To Meet, Pick Date For Anambra Supplementary Elections Today
Barring any last minute changes, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will today pick a date for the conduct of the supplementary governorship election in Anambra State.
Confirming today’s meeting where the top echelon of INEC would pick a date for the supplementary election, Chief Press Secretary to Professor Attahiru Jega – the commission’s chairman – Mr. Kayode Idowu last night said, “For now, there is nothing the media needs to know about the meeting between the leadership of INEC and its field officers. You are aware that there have been a lot of issues being raised from all quarters whether genuine or not.
“What I can tell you about the meeting is that the leadership, as usual needed to meet with its field officers and debrief them on the situation, there is nothing strange about it”.
On when the supplementary election will hold in Anambra, Idowu said: “That is the issue that will be discussed tomorrow (today) when the leadership of INEC meets; hopefully, barring unforeseen circumstances, at the meeting, a date for the supplementary election in Anambra state will be disclosed to the public”, he said.
